The most beautiful woman in the world

...according to my dad (okay, besides my mom of course): ANITA BAKER!!!

Anita Baker - Caught up in the rapture

Okay, okay the video is a little... Uhmm ja!

Oh what the heck...

I know I said a piece of furniture would be my Sunday sexy, but I'm a single girl!!

So as not to over-indulge, I have one pic of a particularly DAPPER rapper (I'm a poet and I didn't even know it).
Did I say ONE?? LMBAO! I couldn't stop once I got started. The man is lot like his music: once you get into it, you just can't stop. I've been bonding with 'One day it'll make sense'. G.O.O.D music indeed (even though it was way before Ye)

Sunday Sexy

This Sunday I've decided not to focus on a sexy man, but rather a sexy piece of furniture.

I saw this teacup stool over at Kanye's. It's from Mocah.uk. It made me sing my song Teacup "I'm just a teacup kinds a girl, no rollercoaster kinda girl..."

I like the Yellow one... Wonder if I can get Marcee to buy me one LOL!!
Album update:

Took a break from recording because of the job drama. Meeting with Mark tomorrow. Will keep you informed :)

Brothers kids here for 2 weeks...

wooooosah!! I'm rubbing my earlobes and trying to calm down. My beloved niece and nephew are here to visit for 2 weeks and I fetched them from the airport less than 2 hours ago.

IN LESS THAN 2 HOURS:

We now have a TV... Connected and EVERYTHING (haven't had one switched on in this house since august '08)

In all fairness a good friend found out about Marcee and I being TV-less (poor us- sarcasm) and she offered to let us use her TV. We kept it on the floor in Marcee's room because we dont see the need for a TV. The NEPHEW decided we needed to have it on because he is BORED (he says that every 2 minutes)

My nephew has taken his pants off... Because it hot!!

My niece has decided her iPod is much more interesting than us. I feel a hundred years old!!

I'm thinking of turning to the bottle. Poor aunty!!!

AND... AND... There has already been one death threat. Nephew wanted to kill niece ha ha ha!

This is how we met

I, unlike other people, had no idea who Kanye West was till I heard this song: Through the wire!

COLLEGE DROP OUT is the ISH.

Kanye West- Through the wire

He had me at 'I must have angels, cause look how death missed his ass UNBREAKABLE..."
Uhmmm... a reference to one of my favourite directors movies? How could I not like this young man rapping with his jaw wired shut?

Way-back-when-Wednesday (Def Squad)

I know, it's not Wednesday. But I'm a little dazed and confused after that job loss thing (LOL) so get over it!

rappers delight is my theme song!! I just LOOOVVE it! I can't explain why, but back in high school when I was feeling down I used to listen to the Def Squad version. The OG is great as well, but I LOVE Def Squad (esp Red).

Lost my job on my birthday

No lies... But that is not the point of this post. Although it does OFFICIALLY make me a full time musician (eeeek). This post is about my birthday.

Since today is my birthday it usually means gifts. I received a few great gifts, which I'm VERY VERY thankful for. But the one that stood out was THIS ONE:

When I received this gift on Saturday, my good buddy handed it to me and said "call me when you open it, so I can explain it to you." I thought it might need some assembling or something. OMG!!! I haven't called her because I think I have a fair idea what it is. Its sooo hilarious! I was having a crap birthday (because of loss of job) and opening that gift really cheered me up.

Now, I'm going to hide it somewhere in my room, until.... Until...
Oh who knows :)

Despite the loss of job, I have a lot to be grateful for:
Life
Family
Music

Enough money to buy me 2 months to figure out this loss of job crap
The Nosh that I'm eating right now
Friends

& an AMAZING best friend :)

Marcee thanks for EVERYTHING!!! Love you like... Like Caz loves Marcee

Taking you back to '43

Lena Horne - Stormy weather

Sometimes you just want to sit down with a cup of chai tea, reading a good book and listen to music from way back when :)

Bitches Brew

Calm Down Miles Davis fans, this one is not for you LOL!! It's no secret that I LOOOOOOVVVEEEE reading. So this year I decided that if I read a book by an 'international' author then the next one I read is going to be by an African one.

So far so good. I'm gonna start with one that I've read just recently: Bitches Brew by Fred Khumalo.

Not a great pic, but the other one was an extreme close up showing what looked like grey nose hair. So this one will do.

I admit that I started out with 3 Zakes Mda books, so I didn't have high expectations for the books to follow. Zakes Mda is my male Toni Morrison *swoon*... Oh, okay back to Bitches Brew. Marcee swapped it for 'Their eyes were watching God' with a friend. She read it straight after Zora Neal Hurston and Zakes Mda and was not impressed.

So ofcourse I approached the book with some scepticism. But I was hooked from page one. This book is such a lovely read. It;s a love story and you know how much I dislike soppy love stories. But this love story is immersed in SA history. I even recognised some of the characters and wished I had Fred's phone number. So I could call him up and say 'hey I know who that is supposed to be buti!"

Read Bitches Brew! LOVED IT!!!

Way-back-when-Wednesday (227)

My parents and I used to love 227, although I think I would enjoy it more now that my English vocab has expanded LMBAO!!

227 (theme song)

This Giraffe made my day :)

So I was having an ICKY day and so I went over to Bridgets blog and I saw this site: cake wrecks, so I figured looking at cake is probably better than eating it... I've been craving cake since Sunday.

So the site turns out to be cool, but I didn't laugh out loud until I came across this gem below:

LMBAO!! It's too funny. SMH at someone actually selling it :)

Hope it makes your day too!!

Who is Lulu Dikana

She is an AMAZING singer. Absolutely phenomenal. She is local singer Zonke's sister. She is an actress as well and she released her album My Diary My Thoughts last year.

Her song 'Life and Death' is being played a lot on radio and I LOVED IT SOOOOO MUCH I went to go and buy the album. Th rest of the album is good, but Life and death is definitely a stand out track. Her voice is so rich and beautiful, her lyrics thoughtful... All in all Lulu Dikana is a BREATHE OF FRESH AIR!!!
