Never ending story

I am back AGAIN and this time I have a good reason for having gone away.

It seems that making this album is going to take longer. I mean... I knew it was going to take a while, but I was not prepared for HOW LONG it would actually take. I think I stopped blogging because I didn't know what to say. I would imagine a bunch of posts saying "still recording... Still anxious... Not sure how I'm affording this..." don't make for a very interesting blog.

I think I also went through a little bit of a depression. All this money was being poured into a-never-ending-project and I was in a constant state of creating. The manager (Ms Marcee) suggested I take a break... Which I could, because the money well was drying up fast anyway.

This is in no way meant to be a depressing post. I am no longer depressed and I have decided to celebrate all my mini victories. So here goes:

  • We have 3 COMPLETE songs (mixed, mastered & ready for consumption)

  • The first single (Are you listening) was described as 'ground breaking' by a reviewer

  • I recorded 5 more songs, with producer 1, that are soon to be mixed etc.

  • I performed at a friends company launch 2 months ago and the audience was pleasantly surprised and so lovely to perform to (see pics below)

    • I am in the Red Bull studios this week, working on some out-of-my-comfort-zone tracks

    • We are shooting a video next month (for 'Aching Head') and the if the treatment is anything to go by... *blowing my own horn*

    • The shoot for the sleeve is happening next week and I'm really excited about it. It makes me feel that we are getting closer to completion.

I am nervous and excited about the road ahead. I will definitely keep you posted *wink*

Im in love with a dead man

I'm in love with a dead man and the sad thing is I didn't even know him...

When Alexander McQueen was announced dead I was surprised as to how much people were going on about him. I didn't know who this man was so I decided to investigate. After I saw these two pics, I knew I was onto a good thing. Once I got into my investigation I really wished I was filthy rich. Dp you see why?

I have recently accepted that I love high fashion and the art of making clothes so I hope you understand that when I say I am in love with Alexander McQueen, he had an amazing mind. He really was a fashion genius. He used wonderful colours and textures, he wasn't afraid to explore and delve deep into his mind. I swear if I was rich I would buy as many items of clothing and shoes I can.

I really am in love with a dead gay man, I think Marc Jacobs Will have to wait till I get over my crush.

He was born 17 March 1969 and died 11 February 2010. He worked as the head designer of Givenchy before founding Alexander McQueen label. I'm heart broken that I never got to meet him... Do you see why I am so in love???

    Iron Man tooo?

Its no secret that this year has been amazing so far. I have so much to be grateful for, but not everyone wants to hear it. In the past 2 months I've been listening to friends lament about boring jobs, cheating men, lack of men, too much debt and even the fact that Usher calls himself 'Daddy' (true story).

So I figured maybe 2010 is not a great year for a lot of people. Well... This is not true for Robert Downey Jnr a.k.a my inner-little-boys-favourite-marvel-character-come-to-life: IRON MAN! Yes. Iron Man 2 is just a month away from release. When I went to go see the first one, I wasn't really expecting anything marvelous. But I was pleasantly surprised.

Seeing the trailer made me believe that Iron Man will have some hard times, I wouldn't want Mickey Rourke as my nemesis, but he will triumph. Yep. 2010 is a good year for both Iron Man and myself. Watch the trailer it will definitely excite your inner-little-boy. Mine is running around the room screaming 'when can we go see it? Is it on tomorrow mom?'

    Cape Town Gals

I am originally from Jozi and I will always be a Jozi girl. But I live in Cape Town and recently I was interviewed by one very smart and ridiculously sexy woman: Cape Town Girl.
I recently did an interview with her (pic above) and it was fantastic. Check it out HERE.

I have just recently started getting into all things girly: lip gloss, mascara, sexy high heels and ROUGE (aka red lipstick). So it was absolutely amazing to be interviewed by a lover of day spa's, designer sunglasses and lounges around in lingerie.

I am really loving this journey. It keeps getting better ;)

    Slip

A while ago I worked with a very talented musician friend of mine (Richard tha 3rd) and he played a beat for me that I couldn't resist. A line appeared from the darkness of my mind and wouldn't leave me alone.

I asked him to put the beat on a memory stick for me and took it home. At home the magic happened. 2 weeks later we finally made it into studio and SLIP was born. My manager is crazy about this track. Absolutely CRAZZEEEEE about it.

Check it out here and let me know what you think.

I love the artwork that is displayed on the site for the track. So absolutely 'Porcelain'... Yeah, I said it.

    Way-back-when-Wednesday (Keith Murray)

I did say that I was some-what of a Def Squad fan. Nothing makes me smile like this song. Makes me feel like a sexy little Nosh... Why does that sound dirty?! LMBAO

    New Year?

Yes it is a brand new year and I'm about 4 months late with this post. I have to be the worst blogger in the history of bloggery (hee hee). It is has been a happy new year indeed. Lots of changes, but good ones.

After last years fuckery: unemployment, depression and trying to complete an album, I feel amazing and shiny and new. Although I must admit there was some amazing things that happened last year as well. Like the Beyonce-Black Porcelain-Katy Perry gwan and doing amazing performances as well.

I have left my toxic job and looking forward to launching the album. Honestly so much stuff has happened that I cannot write it all in one post. Otherwise it would be a novel. so I will start with the 'dreaded' promo pics.

When we first started out, we released the EP as a trial and it rushed through the sleeve photoshoot. This time around, my manager and I decided to really take our time with the look, make up etc. So here is the Before and After. Its not quite Extreme Make-over but hey...
